Raylen Givens este un serif anacronic, tacut, foarte politicos, insa pur si dur in esenta sa. Mai mult o figura de secol XIX decat un ofiter de politie contemporan, Raylen abordeaza lumea interlopa intr-un mod foarte direct si foarte brutal. Pentru a-i tempera excesul de zel, superiorii il obliga sa se intoarca in oraselul sau natal si sa fie serif acolo, uitand faptul ca Raylan are un trecut destul de turbulent, un trecut peste care planeaza traumatizant figura tatalui criminal.
