Seria este bazata pe experientele mediumului Allison Dubois, care pretindea ca a lucrat cu autoritatile de pe intreg teritoriul tarii, ajutand la rezolvarea cazurilor de criminalistica. Allison Dubois este o femeie puternica, o devotata sotie si mama a trei fetite. Ea lucreaza part-time la pocuratura din Phoenix, unde folosindu-si abilitatile psihice, ajuta la rezolvarea cazurilor violente, care pun autoritatile de multe ori in incurcatura si pe seful ei Devalos. Visele ei de multe ori ii ofera indicii privind locul unde se afla personele disparute, alteori, atingand pe cineva, ii descopera adevaratele intentii, dincolo de ce arata la exterior.Allison incearca sa faca fata slujbei stresante ,si totodata sa fie o sotie si o mama buna. Joe este sotul ei, care este extraordinar de intelegator si incearca sa o sprijine in ceea ce face; Ariel si Bridget sunt fetele cele mari, care se pare ca mostenesc harul mamei lor sub diferite forme.
